- The artist has the banner dated 1776-1876 because that was the time period that farmers were fought for. There was many events that were happening that were revolved around farming and farmers. Events like the financial crisis happened during this time period. This was when crops prices have fallen, crops were more expensive to ship and farmers were devastated by Congress’s reduction of paper money. It is showing that farmers are the base of society.

Building Carnegie Hall, 1889 : Document Questions
- Carnegie’s plan sparked interests because to outsiders this project was expensive. It caught peoples eyes when they see that Carneigie put 1 million dollars towards a music hall. The Gillded Age was a time when the country may have seemed wealthy, but in reality was corrupt. This is the same kind of thing with the music hall, it is put on a good part and town and such to make it seem for expensive.
- Carnegie’s generous donations and such to these different cultural institutions were a way of showing greatness. At that point in time the people were in the Gillded Age, so this was Carnegie’s way of showing people that he actually is wealthy.
- I think Carnegie should be considered a benevolent industrialist because to me his donations and such is just a way for him to manage the industry. Carnegie wants to manage things himself and he does that by giving his own money toward things. Or he can be seen as having a good conscience because of his contributions.
